The Struggle of Young Christians against Repeated Sins (Part 2) The Humanity of Jesus
Dear young man and young woman reading this now, God has loved you dearly in Jesus Christ. That love does not waver and does not change. That is the reason why God sent Jesus Christ to this earth.
What do you think? Do you think that Jesus had some divine skin while He lived on earth? No. He was just like you and me. Fully human. He was hungry and thirsty. He became tired. He slept. All this because He was human. He was raised by human parents because He was born as a baby like you and me. And He grew up to be a young man.
What does that mean? It means that He went through physical and emotional changes like you and me when He grew up into manhood. Not only that the Bible reveals that: “Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted” (Hebrews 2:18 NIV). Does it surprise you? Jesus suffered like you and me when tempted. So He knows exactly how you feel when you are tempted. And that means you needn’t suffer thinking of how to explain all your feelings when tempted. You need just trust the fact that He knows it all.
Before we move further, you need to understand why He was named Jesus: “And you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21b NIV). So be sure that Jesus came to SAVE you from your sins. He came not to destroy you. So find hope in His love for you today.
